La Lumiere School, in La Porte, Indiana, United States, is a private, college preparatory boarding and day school founded in 1963.

About

La Lumiere was originally organized as a Roman Catholic school, and still belongs to some Roman Catholic school associations; however, La Lumiere is highly welcoming and accepting of all faiths and creeds, staff and students alike.

The students and teachers of La Lumiere have come from all around the country, and all around the world. Including: Illinois, Michigan,California, Louisiana, Florida, Russia, South Korea, Vietnam, France, Japan, Burundi, Germany, Nigeria, Taiwan, Lithuania, and many more places from throughout the years.

It is a school where the saying, "A La Lumiere family," really is just that. Some female boarding students have even been known to call each other sisters. Teachers and boarding students go on weekend trips to places like the local movies or the mall and the students are proud to say they saw the newest blockbuster with their Ethics teacher, or went shopping with their English teacher. Nothing else can compare to the feeling of togetherness this school brings.

Sports

La Lumiere offers a unique experience in that sports are a requirement. Through this, all students gain the chance to be a part of a team in the fullest extent. At most local high schools, the only way to know what being a part of a team feels like is if one is exceptional at a certain sport or talent. At La Lumiere the feeling of being a part of a team, knowing what teamwork is in its fullest extent, gaining knowledge about a sport first hand instead of through a text book, and being a good sport about all wins and losses is something all students get to learn. The sports are coached by many of the teachers with few coaches coming from outside of the school, giving the students they coach a better chance to know them. Sports offered at La Lumiere include:

Fall

Winter

Spring

Alternatives to some sports are offered in the forms of Drama and Science Olympiad.

Drama is offered in both the Winter and Spring, with a full production in the Winter and usually three to four shorter plays in the Spring.

La Lumiere's Science Olympiad has gone to state every year since it's inception. It is offered during the Winter

The basketball team is great, with an unbleivable coach named Del Ray Brooks. He has taught that it is important to be good at the sport but also to maintain a great education.

Location

Located 30 miles west of South Bend, Indiana, and 70 miles east of Chicago, Illinois.
