Edit to Michael Jordan article

Are you saying that once an article achieves FA status that it can't be improved by further edits? Duke53 | Talk 02:35, 10 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Not at all. I wasn't clear on what exactly you were referring to when stating, see Marion Jones' talk page. Your edit summary was a bit ambiguous. If you are looking to change the entire opening, it would be best to discuss first. Zodiiak 03:09, 10 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
My edit summary was not in the least ambiguous; apparently many editors feel that the mention of a person's university affiliation has no business being in the lead of an article. Just trying for some consistency here. Duke53 | Talk 03:38, 10 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
"See Marion Jones talk page; apparently this is the accepted format." The talk page has 5 subsections with various matters and discussions on it; the edit was unclear that you were referring directly to the inclusion of the University. Personally, I do not see a reason why you were not allowed to include Marion Jone's college affiliation in the lead. However, MJ's case is much stronger since it is countlessly mentioned throughout his career; from the origins of his "clutch" capabilities to his establishment of players in his new organizations (traded for stackhouse [UNC alum]), etc. Zodiiak 04:16, 10 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Since the edit I'd made to the Michael Jordan article was merely deleting the mention of his university affiliation it should have been very clear which discussion at Talk:Marion Jones‎ was relevant. Duke53 | Talk 04:34, 10 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
An entire paragraph was moved in the wiki edit and multiple sentences were highlighted diff in red. The page is monitored aggressively for vandals and lead changes. Edit summaries are not only for listing reasons for changes, but also to describe the changes made. Zodiiak 02:54, 11 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Zodiiak is right. Jordan spent a couple of years in college playing basketball and achieved a number of things as a college basketball player. Quite a bit of the body of the article is devoted to that. As the lead is a summary of the article, the mention of where he played his college basketball is unavoidable. It is different if it was mentioned for no reason at all. Suppose this was an article about a notable college basketball player instead who is/was not in the NBA -- what then? Is it wrong to mention which college he played for? Chensiyuan 07:04, 11 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm about to get a picture of Hak on Wikipedia and then I'm going to submit it for review for Good Article status. Any other suggestions before I do so? Thanks again. Chengwes 15:04, 10 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'll give it a read tomorrow and let you know -- Thanks! Zodiiak 02:55, 11 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
OK. Just let me know when you read it! Chengwes 15:16, 18 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I read through it. It needs some copyediting and maybe less sections. I'll chime in a bit and see if I can help with the copyediting. Zodiiak 05:38, 4 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Barkley

No prob, let me know if you've got another project in mind. Maybe LeBron James? I took my eyes off that for a while due to some crazy people having crazy ideas, but I've returned to hawk over it lol. Chensiyuan (talk) 03:14, 20 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I was planning on working on that one as well. I pretty much drifted as well, after putting in countless hours fixing it. But, it seems like a good project to work on =) Zodiiak (talk) 03:16, 20 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Kobe Bryant nickname

In Canada, most canadian sportscasters used the nickname Kobra for Kobe Bryant. I consider you not removing it as a "fannote" since people actually know him as Kobra. ~~Annoyomous24~~ (talk) 09:57, 24 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's not published anywhere in the states, and is not common. Therefore, it is a fan note. Zodiiak (talk) 10:00, 24 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well the English Wikipedia isn't all USA, it's the English version of Wikipedia, and I know it is rarely used but it's still a nickname. ~~Annoyomous24~~ (talk) 00:35, 25 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Review: Verifiability Zodiiak (talk) 05:43, 25 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
This is the closest proof that I found. I proved to myself that Kobra is not an offical nickname for Kobe Bryant but it's still used in the public [1] ~~Annoyomous24~~ (talk) 21:35, 19 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It still looks like it's just a fan note, but thanks for taking the time to research. Zodiiak (talk) 21:39, 19 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

MJ Steaks

Did you click on the link? Is he really into steaks now... Chensiyuan (talk) 02:10, 12 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It looks like an advertisement. I'm not even sure if it's officially sponsored by MJ. If it is, it needs to be cited from reliable source to back up the claim. Otherwise, it's irresponsible for Wiki to allow such an article/link on here. Zodiiak (talk) 02:11, 12 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I was just wondering, who has the most points in a qarter and a half? Wilt Chamberlain? ~~Annoyomous24~~ (talk) 21:37, 19 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Most points is Wilt with 59 in 1969 and Quarter is George Gervin with 33 in 1978. Zodiiak (talk) 21:41, 19 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for clearing things up with that situation.~~Annoyomous24~~ (talk) 17:23, 14 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Barkley's height

That doesn't make Barkley looking close to 6'4" because he stands beside two actors who are around 6'3" in height. So Barkley looks at least two inches taller than them. Other websites describe Barkley being 6'5" in height. See google for that. D@rk talk 16:55, 22 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I changed my edit to 6Ft 4 again but I'm telling you, Barkley's height as 6'4" is undermeasured. D@rk talk 17:14, 22 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I understand your concerns and I support anything that is noted by a reputable source. So long as you have a valid source that can trump any of the previous sources, I will fully support it. Unfortunately, a picture does not validate any claim. Zodiiak (talk) 01:33, 23 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Kobe Bryant

Please!! Do not terrorize Kobe Bryant anymore. The 'ASSAULT' case has nothing to do with his "Basketball Career". Dwilso (talk) 08:30, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

How long have you been on Wikipedia? How many good articles or featured articles have you written? I am not "terrorizing" the article, or whatever you may want to call it. To insert the controversy in the lead is mandatory by wikipedia guidelines, please read Wikipedia:LEAD. Zodiiak (talk) 02:33, 6 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
