Mario Bencomo

Mario Luis Díaz Bencomo (born July 26, 1953, Pinar del Río, Cuba), is an artist.

Individual exhibitions

He has achieved many personal exhibitions, among them we can quote: "Mario Díaz Bencomo. Habitat Concepts". Library Gallery, Miami Dade Community College, Miami, Florida, U.S.A, 1979. Two years laters in 1981 he exhibits "Archipielagum"in Schweyer Galdo Galleries, Birmingham, Michigan, U.S.A. In 1989 "Bencomo’s Urgent Dream" occurred at the Museum of Contemporary Hispanic Art (MOCHA), New York; U.S.A.

Collectives exhibitions

He also formed part of many collectivs exhibitions. In 1981 he participates in the collective exhibitions achieve at the Museum of Modern Art of Latin America, Washington. And was one of the selected artist for the V Bienal Iberoamericana de Arte Domecq. Instituto Cultural Domecq, México, D.F., Mexico, 1986. In 1987 he was also part of the "Abstract Visions", Museum of Contemporary Hispanic Art (MOCHA), New York. In 1988 he participated at the Tampa Triennial. Tampa Museum of Art, Tampa, Florida, U.S.A. In 1997 some of his images were selected to conform "Breaking Barriers. Selections from the Museum of Art’s Permanent Contemporary Cuban Collection". Museum of Art, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, U.S.A.

Awards

He has been awarded with several distinctions during his life, as an example we can mention Prize "Anthony, Capotilupo Fine Arts", Miami, Florida, U.S.A, 1981. In 1984 he gained "Cintas Foundation Fellowship", New York, U.S.A. In 1987 he obtained the "Prize Adquisición. Second All Florida Biennial Exhibition", Polk Museum of Art, Lakeland, Florida, U.S.A He was also awarded with the "Prize 39th Annual All Florida Juried Exhibition", Boca Museum, Boca Raton, Florida, U.S.A, 1989.
