Sežana (Italian: Sesana) is a city and a municipality in the Karst region of Slovenia. Population 11,842 (2002). From 1919 to 1947 it was part of Italy.

There are many Slovenian factories in the city, like Mitol, Jadran, Goldclub, Alfastreet, Kraški zidar, etc. and a lot of smaller enterprises.

In the vicinity of the city is the world famous (400 years old) studfarm Lipica which attracts a considerable number of tourists. There are two hotels in Lipica, in the city there are also two hotels and a motel, which are meant for tourists, businessmen and transit guests. Sezana is situated in a central point between Ljubljana, Triest and the Adriatic coast, and for this reason so many tourists and organized groups sleep in the town's hotels and during the day take the trips in the varied directions (Lipica, Postojna Cave, Škocjan Caves, Kras , Štanjel, Ljubljana, Trieste, Adriatic sea...). Of course many things can be also seen in the city: the famous botanic park, the memorial room of poet Srečko Kosovel, the walk through the forest study way Tabor, the study way of the natural and cultural inheritance of the city, the march through the memorial way of Srečko Kosovel from Sežana to Tomaj etc..

Sežana is located about 10km from Trieste (Italy) and 80km from Ljubljana (the Slovenian capital). In the past there was a large border crossing but since 21st December 2007 the border has been opened as Slovenia joined the Schengen zone ending the need for passport and customs checks between Slovenia and Italy.
