Mark Weldon (politician)

Mark Edward Weldon (born on 2 April 1962 in Walton, Liverpool) is a British local politician.

He was educated at De La Salle grammar school and Liverpool John Moores University, where he gained a BSc (Hons) in Biology.

Weldon worked as a biology teacher and form tutor at Longdendale Comminity Language College in Hollingworth, Greater Manchester for many years before embarking on his poitical career. During the time from 2000 until 2005, Weldon tutored the form group "MW", consisting of around 36 students. Weldon was a key member of the science department at the school.

Currently Weldon is the Liberal Democrat Executive Councillor for Communities for Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council (SMBC). His main political responsibilities include Housing, Neighbourhood Renewal, Crime and Anti-Social Behaviour.

Weldon currently represents (2006) the Stepping Hill Ward, he was re-elected on Thursday 4th May 2006 with a majority of 110 votes.
