The 2008 congressional elections in Missouri will be held on November 4, 2008 to determine who will represent the state of Missouri in the United States House of Representatives. The primary election for candidates seeking the nomination of the Republican Party, the Democratic Party, and the Libertarian Party will be held on August 5.

Missouri has nine seats in the House, apportioned according to the 2000 United States Census. Representatives are elected for two-year terms; those elected will serve in the 111th Congress from January 4, 2009 until January 3, 2011. The election coincides with the 2008 U.S. presidential election.

District breakdown

District 1

The incumbent Democrat William Lacy Clay, Jr. will compete against in the General Election by Libertarian Robb E. Cunningham.[1]

District 2

Democrats David L. Pentland, John Hogan, Mike Garman, Byron DeLear, and William C. (Bill) Haas will compete in the Primary Election, the winner to face the incumbent Republican Todd Akin, and Libertarian Thomas L. Knapp in the General Election.[2]

District 3

Republicans Chris Sander, John Wayne Tucker, Greg Zotta, and Pat Ertmann will compete in the Primary Election, the winner to face the incumbent Democrat Russ Carnahan and Libertarian Kevin C. Babcock in the General Election.[3]

District 4

Republicans Stanley Plough, Jr., Joseph Terrazas, and Jeff Parnell will compete in the Primary Election, the winner to face the incumbent Democrat Ike Skelton in the General Election.[4]

District 5

Republicans Jacob Turk, Chris Knowlton, Randall D. (Randy) Langkraehr, and Martin D. Baker will compete in the Primary Election, the winner to face the incumbent Democrat Emanuel Cleaver II in the General Election.[5]

District 6

Democrats Kay Barnes, Mayor of Kansas City, and Ali Allon Sherkat will compete in the Primary Election, the winner to face the incumbent Republican Sam Graves and Libertarian Dave Browning in the General Election.[6]

District 7

Democrats Richard Monroe, L. Gregory Gloeckner, and Tharon Chandler will compete in the Primary Election, the winner to face the incumbent Republican Roy Blunt and Libertarian Kevin Craig in the General Election.[7]

District 8

The incumbent Republican Jo Ann Emerson, Democrat Joe Allen, and Libertarian Branden C. McCullough will compete in the General Election.[8]

District 9

Republicans Bob Onder, Dan Bishier, Dannielle (Danie) Moore, Brock Olivo and Blaine Luetkemeyer will compete in the Primary Election; in addition, Democrats Steve Gaw, Lyndon Bode, Ken Jacob and the incumbent Judy Baker will also compete in the Primary Election. The winners will face Libertarian Tamara A. Millay in the General Election.[9]
