The Ibanez GIO Series is a budget guitar series produced by Hoshino Gakki (Ibanez), replacing the Cimar line. The GIO guitars are a "budget" model similar to Fender's Squier guitars and Gibson's Epiphone line. Unlike the budget lines mentioned an Ibanez logo (sans underline) is featured more prominently on the headstock with a "GIO" logo just above. Some of the models available include:

  • GAX series: The budget version of AX series. 22 fret AX neck, with hard-tail bridge. GAX75GP comes with a Shortstop bridge and "downshifter" allow for quick drop-D tuning.
  • GSA series: The budget version of SA series. Uses SAT-10 bridge instead of SAT-Pro bridge, and use Agathis body. Uses 22-fret SA neck.
  • GSZ series: The budget version of Ibanez SZ series. Uses Full Tune II bridge instead of Gibraltar III, and also come with Quik Change III tailpiece for easy and quick string changes, these are mounted on top of the body using a wrappiece instead of thru-body. Use 22-fret SZ neck, but is bolt-on instead.
  • GRG series. Not including GRGM, these are the budget version of Ibanez RG series. Use Fat 10 single-locking floating tremolo bridge instead of a double locking tremolo system. Aside from that, it also utlize basswood, like many RG series' body. Neck is based on the 24 fret RG-series neck, and comes with shark-tooth inlay. Features a GRG neck, similar to the high quality Wizard neck and equally enjoyable to play.
  • GRX series. These are the budget version of Ibanez RX (precursor to RG with thin neck, but at 22 frets) series. Use Fat 6 floating tremolo bridge instead of a locking bridge. Aside from that, it also utlize basswood, like many RX series' body (except for GRX720, which uses alder). Neck is based on the 22 fret RX-series neck.
  • GRGM series, also known as miKro, is the compact-sized guitar designed for smaller hands, with a 22 inch, 24-fret neck, based upon the RG neck. Have fixed through body bridge. One of its newest model took out the neck pickup, and replaced it with and onboard 2.5 watt amplifier. With a recent update, the GRGM now uses Mahogony instead of Agathis for body wood.
