Midnight Club: Street Racing is a racing simulation along the lines of The Fast and the Furious movies (see: Import Scene). The player starts off with a relatively plain and slow car and through a series of races (each with different goals) they defeat other racers and win their faster and better looking cars.

The game suffered from a number of bugs and glitches in terms of its object modeling and graphics, but it was to be expected for a launch title for the PlayStation 2 platform. The game featured a "Capture the Flag" mode (for both single- and multi-player) that often received high marks.

It was created by Angel Studios (now Rockstar San Diego) and published by Rockstar Games on October 26, 2000, the day the Playstation 2 was released in North America. It currently has two sequels.
