How is the seismic moment related to the energy released by an earthquake? AxelBoldt 00:58, 26 Dec 2004 (UTC)

I think it pretty much IS the energy release. Note that the units, Newton metres, are equivalent to Joules. 128.232.228.174 (talk) 14:29, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
