A Marine Security Guard also known as a "MSG" or an "Embassy Guard" is a U.S. Marine posted at a American Embassy for security purposes. These MSG's usually serve two tours of duty which last 15 months each. MSG's are enlisted Marines from the rank of E-3 to E-8. Marine Detachment Commanders are also enlisted and are from the ranks of E-6 to E-8. "Watch Stander" Marines are from the rank of E-3 to E-5.
