The population was 748 at the 2000 census.
What's It Like?
Woods Bay is on the east shore of Flathead Lake, the largest freshwater lake west of the Mississippi. The bay itself is a mile across and as much as 300 feet deep and quite beautiful. There is a friendly gas station/convenience store called Woods Bay Market, a grill next to it with a laundromat behind it, a very nice upscale hotel called Mountain Lake Lodge, and two locally well known restaurants- the Raven and the Sitting Duck, and the Flathead Brewery. It is five miles south of Bigfork on Montana Highway 35, which follows the western shore along the Mission Mountains through cherry orchard country down to Polson. There is also an annual New Year's Day Polar Bear Plunge sponsored by the Raven.
