Non-fatal stabbing incident
On May 20, 2008, an 17 year old senior girl was stabbed 10 times by a 16 year old sophomore girl. The knife was found by another student later who broke it and dumped it in a sewer. The sophomore was apprehended on the spot and the knife was found the next day. The senior survived the stabbing and the sophomore is expelled from all high schools in the East Side Union High School District, as well as facing at least 15 years of prison. The student who took the knife is being tried as an a accomplice. There are rumors that this was a gang - related stabbing, but there is no evidence to this point, even though the antagonist was a gang member. However, on May 23, 2008 the San Jose Police Department received a call that there would be a gang retaliation to the event, and that there was a student on campus who had a firearm. The police department contacted Principal Frias and gave him this information. A Code Blue was announced near the end of 4th Period, and at 1:20 PM school was ended and all students were forced off campus.
