Brokeback Mountain
Brokeback Mountain is a 2005 film directed by Ang Lee as well as a short story by E. Annie Proulx, upon which the film is based. The screenplay was written by Diana Ossana and Pulitzer Prize winner Larry McMurtry.
The story tells of two cowboys who meet sheep herding and fall in love. Over the next 20 years the story follows their lives, including marriages, births and deaths.
The film stars Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal and also features Michelle Williams and Anne Hathaway. It is planned for released in December 2005. The film has already recieved heavy Oscar buzz, and is a main candidate on many Oscar prediction sites for Best Picture.
Trivia
During filming it was reported Ledger almost broke Gyllenhaal's nose during a kissing scene, not from problematic fighting, but as it required them pulling each other close very quickly. It required many takes.
