Maravarman Kulasekara Pandyan I

Maaravaramban Kulasekara Pandyan I was a Pandyan king who ruled the ancient Pandyan kingdom in South India. He succeeded Jatavarman Sundara Pandyan in 1258 C.E and ruled until his death in 1308 C.E.

On the death of Maaravaramban Kulasekara Pandyan I in 1308, a conflict stemming from succession disputes arose amongst his sons. Sundara Pandya and Vira Pandya fought each other for the throne. Eventually, Madurai fell into the hands of the invading armies of the Delhi Sultanate.

Marco Polo described this kingdom as the 'noblest in the world'.
