A promotional item is merchandise given away free of charge to the public in an effort to promote a business or increase interest or sales in products. In Silicon Valley these items are called schwag (see Swag (disambiguation)).

Promotional items also are used in politics to promote candidates and causes.

Examples of promotional items include corporate/organizational logo branded t-shirts, caps, keychains, bumper stickers and pins.

An alternative name for this type of promotional material is the Yiddish word Chachki (crap).}
