The Battle of the City of Guinnon, or Guinnion was according to the Historia Brittonum the eighth battle commanded by King Arthur during the sub-Roman historical period in British history. King Arthur is supposed to have had placed an image of the virgin Mary on his shield at this battle and gave chase to the Anglo-Saxons with "great slaughter upon them."[1] According to Lord Raglan in his book The Hero a tenth century work called the Welsh Annals attributes this battle to the Battle of Mons Badonicus (Battle of Mount Badon).[2]
