my wikipedia peeve

turd polishers. after hanging out on the deletion pages for a few days, i've a theory on how to get other people to write your article for you: put up a lazy, fetid piece of sluppe as a new "article", being semi-careful to not hit too many of the speedy delete hot buttons.

does somebody write the article for you then? no. your article will likely be nominated for deletion via VfD tag. that is where the rubber of this manipulation truck gets moving. out of nowhere you'll see people climbing onto the page, talking about how it could be saved — if only it didn't utterly suck. but don't be discouraged! you're close to the finish.

overly-mannered sloops will step in to clean up your nonsense for you. because it would be such a crime to delete it now that... well now that what? now that somebody's added a new page of crap to wikipedia and given it a title? ROFL.

yes, we wouldn't want to discourage these 3-year-old 'tards from relieving themselves all over the place so that people can feel positive about themselves for wasting time helping passive-aggressive lazybots.

news flash: the tough and valuable work at wikipedia is writing/editing good articles, not creating trash. these opera should be treated exactly like sorry edits are: reverted back to their previous state — in this case, non-existence. has no bearing on what may eventually be done by an earnest writer, but it will have the economic effect of shutting down the incentive to make swill that people argue over for hours before the process described above kicks in. zap it! kill it! it's usually the best answer when in doubt. articles can be written entirely in preview mode, and launched with a respectable start on life. how to save? save it as a text file.

this pervasive TP attitude re page deletions is perhaps the weakest link of wikipedia. don't bite the newbies? let the newbies cut their teeth editing if they don't want to be bitten. SaltyPig 07:29, 29 August 2005 (UTC)
