Automatic Baby
Automatic Baby is the band that R.E.M. and U2 call themselves when they perform together at live events. The name comes from the two bands, and their most popular albums:
- "Automatic" comes from R.E.M.s 1992 album "Automatic For The People"
- "Baby" comes from U2's 1991 album "Achtung Baby".
Although, there have been no official album releases of any of their performances, a lot of them can be found on Peer 2 Peer networks.
It's not known how many songs Automatic Baby have performed, but two common performances are a version of U2's "One", with Michael Stipe doing vocals, and a cover of Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Who'll Stop The Rain". There are also a lot of other releases, that are a lot rarer to find, such as a version of R.E.M.s "Losing My Religion", with Bono preforming vocals and a cover of Sting's "Fields of Gold".
