Tiled

A {{prod}} template has been added to the article Tiled, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you endorse deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please tag it with {{db-author}}. B. Wolterding 15:06, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Mana World

Hello. Just thought I'd let you know that there's a strong conflict of interest in your contribution to The Mana World's AfD (and indeed, to the article itself, as you appear to be one of the developers. Please read wikipedia's page on conflict of interest. It's also something I'm going to bring up on the AfD. Thanks! Fin© 16:10, 14 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Uhm, sorry, I don't have time for this... My problem with the whole matter is that to me Wikipedia seems to be dealing with these kind of things largely in an unfair way. I've had the same issue before as you can see above, where a Tiled user decided to start a page about it on Wikipedia but it was quickly proposed for deletion. Mentioning of several projects that are using Tiled was fruitless. Meanwhile similar applications have their pages like Mappy (editor) and Tile Studio (both of which only have their own website as source). I see the same thing repeat itself with The Mana World, even though it is much more notable that any of the previously mentioned projects. This just makes me feel rather sad about this place. --Bjørn (talk) 22:10, 14 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with you on Tile Studio - you should nominate it for deletion if you feel it is not notable (I might do myself). Anyway, if you've time to create an edit articles, you should also take some time to read some of the wikis policies - WP:NOTABLE, about whether subjects are notable enough for inclusion; WP:COI, about conflicts of interest; as regards the existence of Mappy and Tile Studio, see WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS. I know it must be irritating for it to feel like the community's against you, but if you read the articles I've just linked you, you'll see it's not personal, it's simply how the wiki is kept in shape. Also, if you feel sad, WP:) is a good place to go for a laugh =) Thanks! Fin© 22:57, 14 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I mislinked Mappy, I meant Mappy (editor). In any case I do not consider it my place to mark either of these pages for deletion. Especially as the author of Tiled, it would obviously be seen as an attack on competing software. About having time, note that I merely improved the article about The Mana World a bit, I do not have time to create articles. I also wouldn't know what I would create an article about, since all the projects I'm working on are apparently unnotable, which just means I should be spending more time on those instead. --Bjørn (talk) 09:16, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
