Bank Street is a primarily residential street in the Greenwich Village section of New York City, in the borough of Manhattan. It runs from West Street to Hudson Street, and Bleeker Street to Greenwich Avenue; it switches from west to east at Fifth Avenue. Between Hudson Street and Bleeker Street the position in the grid that would be occupied by Bank Street is a childrens playground.

Bank Street is named after a branch of the Bank of New York which had an office on Wall Street. in 1798 a clerk in the office was stricken with yellow fever, and, to avoid being quarantied and closed and closed in the future, the bank bought eight lots in Greenwich Village and erected a branch there for use in emergencies.

Vehicular traffic runs west-east along this one-way street.
