Jess Smith, also known as Jesse W. Smith, was a member of President Warren G. Harding's Ohio Gang. He was an unofficial assistant to United States Attorney General Harry M. Daugherty and Daugherty's roommate at Washington, D.C.'s Wardman Park Hotel[1].

Under Harding, "[t]he Justice Department was nicknamed the Department of Easy Virtue. Its primary graft liaison was a fellow named Jesse W. Smith. He was fond of bellowing a popular song with the refrain, "Good God! How the Money Rolls In."[2]
