Why are the world records in swimming constantly broken?

Not that it's terribly important, but "competitive swimming competition" in the first sentence is more than a little redundant. Perhaps someone with an iota (ie not me) could improve it? - Im.a.lumberjack 21:22, 2 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
