Page names

Hello, you may want to consider naming articles in the format, "Town, State". For example, Warren Township, Iowa instead of Warren Township, Story County, Iowa. There are a few reasons:

  1. The naming does not conform to WP:NAME.
  2. For others to even find the article you created, they will have to type out the full name (i.e., "Warren Township, Story County, Iowa"). The defacto style would simply be, "Warren Township, Iowa." For example, with your format, if one wanted to know about Tampa, Florida, they would have to type, "Tampa, Hillsborough County, Florida." Without the full name (i.e., just "Tampa, Florida"), the search engine would say that there is no such article within the wiki (even though there really is).
  3. In the event that there are more than one Warren Townships in the state of Iowa, to conform to WP:NAME, the format would be, "Warren Township, Iowa (Story County)".

Again, these are just suggestions to maintain consistancy within the wiki. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact me on my talkpage located here! Cheers!--Sallicio 22:19, 20 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your comments. There are indeed many townships with the same name. In Iowa there are 99 counties, each divided into 16 or more townships. Search on "Grant Township" for example, it will be obvious. It will also show that this format is widely used. Reading through WP:NAME, this format is actually suggested. I'm just filling out some of my local ones anyway. Moline670 (talk) 23:22, 20 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
