Christine Bleakley (born February 2, 1980) is a television presenter known for co-presenting The One Show on BBC One.

Biography

Having started her career as a Floor manager working behind the scenes she trained whilst studying for her A-Levels at Bloomfield Collegiate School (a grammar school) on Astoria Gardens in Ballyhackamore, Belfast, and continued to work at BBC NI whilst studying for a Politics degree. She did not complete her degree course, instead moving into television work full time.[1]

Broadcasting career

Bleakley began her television career in her native Northern Ireland, hosting a wide variety of shows. Her biggest solo series was called Sky High which saw her flying around Northern Ireland in a helicopter in 2004. A weekly entertainment show called First Stop was soon to follow while big one off shows like, Would You Pass The 11+ and Children in Need allowed her to develop her presenting skills.

Outside of Northern Ireland, she co-hosted the BBC Two talent show Let Me Entertain You and since August 2007 she has been the co-host of The One Show.[2]

She is a patron of the CineMagic children's film festival [3] and is Northern Ireland ambassador for The Prince's Trust.

Bleakley is set to take part in the 2008 series of Strictly Come Dancing.[4]

Personal life

She had a relationship with the Belfast Giants ice hockey player Curtis Bowen, before splitting in August 2003. She was engaged to Christian Stokes, a restaurant proprietor in Dublin of Bang Cafe, after he proposed to her on holiday in Denmark after meeting in December 2003. They split in October 2005. She is currently dating leisure entrepreneur Mark Beirne, owner of Life Inns.[5]
