Skyy (band)
Skyy was a R&B/funk/disco band based in New York.
Career
Formed by record producer/keyboardist Randy Muller, Skyy's original lineup also featured Denise, Delores, and Bonny Dunning as vocalists, with guitarists Solomon Roberts and Anibal Anthony Sierra, keyboardist Larry Greenberg, bassist Gerald Lebon, and drummer Tommy McConnell.
Forming in the late 1970s, Skyy recorded for Salsoul Records until 1984. The group earned several Top Ten hits on the U.S. R&B chart, including "Call Me," "Start of a Romance," and "Real Love," all three of which hit number one. "Call Me" also became Skyy's biggest pop hit, reaching number twenty-six on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 in 1982. May 1989 also saw a #1 single in the title track from their Start of a Romance album (the song secured the number one spot for two weeks). The following year, they hit number one R&B again with the Quiet Storm classic "Real Love," another track off the Start of a Romance album, in February 1990.
Founder Randy Muller was also a member of disco group Brass Construction, and did arranging work for B.T. Express.
