Your recent edits

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. ok

physiology vs psychology

drew (i'm going to presume your name is drew; correct me if i'm wrong), we're currently butting heads over at yeti. the meat of the matter is the sentence "The footprints were examined by an expert who believed them to be too physiologically/psychologically accurate to be fake or man made." now, i don't want to come across as condescending, but it is my belief that you need to expand your vocabulary - you're seeing a spelling error where none exists.

physiology is (essentially) the study of bodies - how they work, how they're put together, and (in this case) how they're shaped. the form of a footprint is inherently a matter of a creature's physiology, and this is what bears on evaluation of its validity as evidence (which is what the sentence in the article speaks to).

psychology is (essentially) the study of minds. a the accuracy of footprint in the snow relative to the foot leaving it is not a matter of psychology, unless we wish to ask the yeti how it feels about the number of apparent foot fetishists following it around all the time.

i'm going to go patch the article back up; i hope we're on the same page now, and don't devolve into an edit war (over YETI of all things, which would be really embarrassing). pauli133 (talk) 02:56, 27 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
