El Mouradia is the name of the main presidential palace in Algeria. It is a modest but beautiful Mauresque style villa pre-dating independance that was chosen to house the Algerian presidency's main offices, including the Algerian president's office itself. El Mouradia symbolises the Algerian presidency therefore just like the White House or the Kremlin symbolise the US or Russian presidencies. Below is an image of El Mouradia's main entrance with two dismounted troopers from the Algerian Haras Joumhouri (Republican Cavalry) standing the guard.
