In the Americanization of the 1963 Tetsujin 28 series by Fred Ladd, many changes were made; the most obvious of which was the robot's name (Tetsujin 28 was renamed Gigantor). Many other characters' names were changed, including: Shotaro Kaneda (Jimmy Sparks), and Dr. Shikishima (Dr. Bob Brilliant). Tetsujin 28's World War II origins were discarded entirely, and the setting shifted to the year 2000.
