History

The Dundela Football Club was formed in 1895 from both, employees of a local dairy owned by the Agnew family and members of a local Harriers Club. Their greatest-ever achievement came in April 1955, when as ranked-outsiders, they defeated the mighty Glenavon by three goals to nil at Windsor Park, Belfast in the final of the Irish Cup. Dundela's darkest hour occurred on August 25 1995, when team captain, Michael Goddard died during a game at Stangmore Park, home of Dungannon, after being struck on the chest with the ball.

Steel & Sons Cup 2008

Dundela's run in this year's compeption has came to an end as they lost 2-1 to their archrival's Ards Fc in a thrilling game at Wilgar Park on Saturday 18th October. Many of the Dundela’s player's where the subject of abuse at the game, a majority off the abuse was aimed at Dundela's new summer signing Johnny Roy who was once a fan's favourite at Ards.

The abuse included comments about the shape off his head (square) and also about him being a turncoat. Ards FC official spokesman Keith Bailie failed to comment about this after the game as he was getting a long overdue haircut as he was starting to look like former republican prisoner Robert (Bobby) Sands.

Johnny's brother Marc was another Dundela player that felt the full force off the Ards fans abuse. Marc was racially abused and also Banana’s where threw at him at his ran up the wing, by the 2,000 or so Ard's fan's that turned out for the game.

It was a dark day for football in Northern Ireland and Dundela FC.
