I Was a Cub Scout

I Was a Cub Scout were a two-man synthpop band from Long Bennington and Collingham, England, consisting of William Bowerman and Todd Marriott. They were formed in 2006, and split in June 2008.

Formation

I Was a Cub Scout was originally a one-man band, consisting solely of Todd Marriott. Lacking a drummer, Marriott used a drum machine to create the sound. William Bowerman joined the band in mid 2006.

The band spent about six months playing house parties and night clubs in England, their exposure gaining them some popularity. They have also maximized their exposure by touring extensively, playing in the 2007 Carling and Download Festivals, as well as embarking on a tour with DARTZ!.[1]

Four singles have been released, each of which has had considerable airplay.[citation needed] IWACS released their debut album, I Want You to Know That There Is Always Hope—produced by Hugh Padgham—in February 2008. The duo consider it to be their best work yet.[2]

The band toured with Kill Hannah and ¡Forward Russia!, however they were forced to pull out of the Minus The Bear tour for undisclosed reasons.

The band toured in February, promoting the single "Pink Squares", and their debut album.

On 5th June 2008 it was confirmed by the band via a MySpace bulletin that they would be splitting. They will honour their tour commitments through June and July, with their show on July 14th being their last.

New Bands

Since the split, both former members have created new bands. Todd has created "Omes", a 5 piece rock band with similar elements to IWACS, but a rockier feel and no synths as of yet.
Will has joined forces with friends to create "Brontide", a loop influenced band, some could say has great reflection on "Russian Circles".
