Inni í Dal is actually the location of B71's home-ground, rather than the ground's name itself. On location is a football pitch, but also the joint public primary school of Sandoy.

History

Construction

Since the municipalities on the island of Sandoy had begun construction of a new public school for the whole island and newly-founded B71 needed a football-pitch, it seemed almost natural that the building of the school and football pitch would coincide. Both were constructed and ready for use in 1971.[1] Since then, neither have undergone dramatic changes.

The school and the pitch

There is somewhat of a unique link between school and team on Sandoy. No where else on The Faroe Islands does a school share in the expenses of the local football-team, lease property out for free, while at the same time, doesn't share in the financial profits. Nonetheless, this has been the case since the establishment of both school and team and there is a standing agreement that B71 uses both ground, changing-rooms and other facilities for free.[2]

Expansions

Although not remarkable, there have been some adding-ons to the B71 facilities.

  • Shop, open on match-day
  • Various renovations regarding safety
  • Renovation of technical areas
  • Accomodation for television equipment
  • Preparations for seated area

Future

Preparations for a seated area Inni í Dal have already begun, which, upon completion, will hold up to 300 spectators. In addition to this there has been talk of renovating the pitch and floodlights, although at this point, this is all speculation, and pending financial backing.

The seated area, however, seems to be set in stone, since this is the basic requirement set by UEFA if the ground's occupants, B71, wish to play another season.
