Date My Ex is an American dating show on Bravo at 10 pm that answers the question, Can exes be friends? It is focused on the dating life of the singer, ex-Housewife of Orange County, Jo De La Rosa. She enlists the help of her ex-fiance, Slade Smiley and her best friends Myia Ingoldsby and Katy Metz.
Premise
Three guys are invited into Slade's house, every week to live with him and compete for Jo's heart. Every day, one of Jo's friends deliver a red and white polka dot box containing a note and a clue hinting at the days events, to her house. The three guys take Jo out on a unique date, close to their own heart. However, what they don't know is that Slade can watch their dates. After all of the dates, Jo chooses one of the guys to stay in Slade's house and go on a second date with her, while the others are told "I think we should just be friends." and they have to leave the house immediately.
Episodes
Episode 1
Winner David Eliminated Michael, Martin, Nelson
It starts out with the four guys being brought to the house and introduced to Slade after the news that their brief residence is, in fact, his house. They are shown their small living quarters, 4 twin beds in a cramped room with one bathroom. They have all planned dates and Martin, the real estate salesman goes first. He takes Jo to a restaurant, which he has shut down just for them. He cooks her a meal in the restaurant's kitchen with minimal help from Jo. They then go dancing in the restaurant. She reveals that she likes a man in an apron but doesn't like that she had hardly talked. Slade agrees with Myia that Jo has hardly put a word in. When Martin gets back he refuses to talk about the date. Slade wakes Michael up in the morning and Michael says "It's weird to be woken up by the ex-fiancee of the woman you are trying to pursue." He takes Jo out on a boat to teach her to fish. Jo only catches a small fish but seems satisfied. Michael taught her how to gut a fish, much to her displeasure. They then went out on the bow of the boat and had breakfast. Not unlike Martin, Michael refuses to talk about his date. David's date starts with him blindfolding her with a Louis Vouitton scarf and leading her up to the roof. There is a private helicopter and champagne. Jo calls Martin cocky. They enjoy champagne then climb into the helicopter for a ride around Los Angeles. It appears that Slade doesn't like David's date with Jo. It is dark he returns to the house but he is open and willing to talk about his date. Nelson's date with Jo is rockclimbing on a beach. Jo tells him that she has always wanted to rock climb. As Nelson climbs up the rock, Jo makes the comment "Your butt looks cute from here" He makes it to the top then lets Jo try. Nelson gives Jo the same compliment as she climbs. The last part of the date is shooting each other with water guns on the beach. Slade approaches David before elimination and tells him that he doesn't feel that he can trust him and that he is to drop out. At elimination the four guys are allowed one last comment to Jo and David appears to drop out but instead makes a comment like everyone else and is chosen in the end.
Episode 2
Winner Lucas Eliminated Tyler, Ali
Three new guys enter the house: Tyler, Lucas, and Ali. They then meet Slade, Jo's ex, and David, the talent manager and winner from Episode 1. Right away, the guys don't like David, who comes off as cocky and separates himself from the group. Jo's first date is with Tyler who takes her to a shooting range. During the date, Jo excuses herself and calls her friend, asking to be rescued. Her friend convinces her to finish the date and Jo agrees. The date turns around after the shooting range when Tyler takes her on a picnic. Jo's second date is with Lucas, who takes her golfing and sparks immediately fly. After their date, Jo invites him back to her apartment to meet her friends and he agrees. When he returns to the house, and Slade asks him if he was invited back to her apartment, he lies and says no. Jo's last date is with Ali and they make sweet music together. After the date, Jo and Ali go back to Jo's apartment to meet her friends. When he returns back to the house, Ali announces he was invited back to Jo's apartment. Tyler is shocked and states he did not even know that was an option. Before elimination Jo and her friends come over for a BBQ cooked by David. During the BBQ it is discovered that Lucas lied about being invited back to the house which makes Slade angry. At elimination Jo chooses Lucas despite his lying. Tyler and Ali are sent packing.
The episode that was aired on August 18th had a spoiler, it showed who was making it to the next round before The Elimination Process was over.
Episode 3
Winner Zack Eliminated Steven, Andre
The three new guys who enter the house are Steven, Zack, and Andre. Just like in the previous episode, David comes off cocky to the new guys, but also seems to pose a threat to their chances later in the show. The first date Jo has is with Zack, who takes her to have a photo shoot with him, because he says his hobby is to model. During the shoot, Jo says she feels embarrassed around him, which is "not like her", and feels they had some chemistry right away. The next date Jo has is with Steven, who is the most shy of the three new guys, and the two previously there also. Before the date, Steven is talking with Slade who tells him to impress Jo, he should change the weather. So when the time comes, Steven leads Jo to a patch of snow with trees and a snowman, where he says they are going to have a picnic, which Slade is extremely surprised by because Steven actually took what he said seriously. During the date, Jo felt she was "babysitting" and that she was leading the date more than he was but they sled down the side of the hill, and Jo said that part was a lot of fun. The final date is with Andre, who begins the date talking in French. He asked his friend to close down their perfume shop just for them, which really impresses Jo, starting the date off really well for Andre. At the end of the date, Jo gets a custom made perfume based on her perfume likes, and Jo goes to tell her friends how fun the date with him was. Later in the show, Jo and her friends decide they should go to Slade's house to have some drinks and get into the pool. Of course, Jo is flirting with all the boys who are eligible to date her, which starts making Slade so jealous to the extent he excuses himself from the pool party. When Jo goes to talk with him later, he tells her the truth about being jealous, and Jo feels bad, but Slade tells her it's fine, and they start talking about the three newest guys and what she likes and dislikes about them. During the elimination, Slade ends up telling the guys what Jo said she disliked about them, which makes the atmosphere a bit uneasy and which also sets Jo in a tangent, which Myia has to break up. The first person Jo eliminated was Steven, but he left saying that "there was still a girl out there for him". When it came time to choose between Zack and Andre, the pressure was too much and Jo had to excuse herself from the stage to go ask her friend Katy what she should do. When she finally comes back, Jo makes the decision to let Zack stay, which surprises David and Lucas, the previous episodes' winners, and Andre himself as well.
Episode 8
Slade asks Jo if she still has feelings for him. Jo responds that she will always love Slade, but she wants to move on. Jo, torn between Lucas and Chris, decides to go to San Diego, where both men will soon travel. After talking to Myia, who informs him of this change of plans, Slade decides to go to San Diego as he wants to apologize to both Chris and Lucas for previously intervening and asking Jo for a date. Jo goes on a final date with both Lucas and Chris. Torn between the two men, she returns to her hotel room. At the final elimination round, Jo tells Chris that her heart is being pulled in another direction. Later, Jo picks Lucas.
