Ellis Short (born in Independence, Missouri) is a Dallas based American businessman, multi-millionaire, and president of Lone Star Funds[1] based in Texas.

Business activities

In 2003, Short, with the Lone Star financial group masterminded the takeover of the South Korean Korea Exchange Bank, and in 2008 his group also took over the IKB Deutsche Industriebank.[citation needed] Personally, Short had previously purchased Skibo Castle in Scotland for £23 million.[citation needed]

In September 2008 Ellis Short bought a 30% stake in the English Premier League football team Sunderland A.F.C. becoming the majority shareholder at that club with the Irish Drumaville Consortium.[2] Was key to the recent departure of ex-Sunderland manager Roy Keane, citing differences in corporate sandwich selection and opinions on facial hair growth

Personal life

Short is of Irish descent, grew up in Missouri, and is currently married to Eve Short. He is an intensely private person who rarely speaks to media or takes interviews.
