Dimalov

Igor Lovchinsky (Russian: Игорь Ловчинский)(born December 15, 1984) is a Russian born pianist currently residing in Boston, MA.

Early Years

Born in the town of Kazan, then part of the Soviet Union, Lovchinsky began his musical career in 1989 when he entered the Kazan Special Music School for Gifted Children. After immigrating to the United States with his family in 1994, Lovchinsky continued his musical instruction with renowned pedagogues Nina and Leonid Polonsky. In 2001, he began his studies under Steven Glaser, Associate Professor of piano in the School of Music at The Ohio State University. In 2003, Lovchinsky entered the Juilliard School of Music in New York, under full scholarship, where he studied under Jerome Lowenthal.

Performing and recording Career

As concerto soloist, Mr. Lovchinsky has performed with the Columbus Symphony Orchestra, the Live Music Project Ensemble and the Florida International University Symphony Orchestra. In addition, his performance of Chopin's First Concerto with the Connecticut Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra was broadcast on WQXR radio in New York and was featured as the soundtrack of the independent film "Romance Larghetto" by director Pablo Goldbarg. In 2007, in collaboration with Earl Wild, Lovchinsky recorder his debut album on the Ivory Classics label.

Awards

Lovchinsky is the first prize winner of the Eastman International Piano Competition and the National Chopin Piano Competition of the Kosciuszko Foundation.

Personal

As of 2007, Lovchinsky is engaged to Alice Wang.
