Masahiro Araki (Template:Lang-ja, born September 13, 1977 in Kikuyō, Kumamoto, Japan) is a professional baseball player for the Chunichi Dragons in Nippon Professional Baseball. He received a Golden Glove Award for second base in 2006. He was the Dragons #1 draft pick in 1995. Although he is known to be more defensive then offensive, he hit a tie-breaking three-run home run off Yomiuri Giants reliever Yukinaga Maeda to give Chunichi a 5-2 win.
Amazing Defensive Plays
On April 24, 2005, he scored from first base on a single by Hirokazu Ibata. Masahiro has also made brilliant plays with Hirokazu. On one occasion, a player on the Hiroshima Toyo Carp hit a groundball up the middle. Masahiro dove for it, caught it, but didn't have enough time to throw him out at first. Instead, he flipped the ball to an alert Hirokazu, who barely threw out the runner.
