The Sydney Metropolitan Wildlife Service (SMWS) is a organisation that is dedicated to caring for Sydney's
sick, injured or orphaned native fauna.
Members are licenced by the National Parks and Wildlife Service under the National Parks and Wildlife Act, 1974.
Sydney Metropolitan Wildlife Service Inc.'s registration number is Y256271-5

SMWS has there head office, located in the Lane Cove National Park and offers 24 hour rescue service.


Duties performed by the SMWS include, but are not limited to:

  1. Wildlife Conservation, fostering, rescuing and rehabilitating
  2. Wildlife Training
  3. Education to public about wildlife matters.
  4. Assistance to the New South Wales Rural Fire Service
