This page needs cleanup, lots of things are listed twice that shouldn't be... 24.203.109.53 00:09, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • The key thing about this article is that it's a list of common emoticons. It seems that some people are adding ones that seem to be ones made on the spot, or ones that just don't make sense. Suiken 01:09, 7 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure if it's a big deal or not, but the information posted here is virtually identical to the following page: http://www.cgi3d.com/ascii_art/Emoticon.html

Neither references the other and I don't know who came first, but here it is for what it's worth. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.102.37.231 (talk) 03:38, 30 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

graphical emoticons

yes, many of these are not really used. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.134.52.64 (talk) 08:33, 10 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'm new to this editing process, but my opinion is that to remove it just for duplication reasons would be a shame. I fond it by looking for a list of textual and graphical emoticons and I was glad to find it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 165.157.77.96 (talk) 23:17, 9 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

5/25/08 cleanup

I cleaned up and re-sorted many of the western style emoticons and removed eastern style/ASCII art. I only left those that seemed to convey an emotion 67.182.1.233 (talk) 19:07, 25 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

9/2/08 Cleanup

I removed these 2:
\m/(>_<)\m/
Rock on / "Devil-Horn Salute"

<|:-o-|-<
Gnome

If you have ever heard of them, feel to add them back in but they don't seem to be used commonly.

Where are the Western-style emoticons?

This article is "List of common emoticons". So where is the list of common Western-style emoticons:

:)
:(
;)
:P
:*

etc......?

˜˜˜

Hi. Someone removed them but I added them back in because this is a list and the Western-style emotions list was already short. ~AH1(TCU) 23:14, 6 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Btw, what is this ;-; I found it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JAnxn_ookjg --80.171.9.219 (talk) 16:38, 3 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Split page?

Should maybe there be a list of common and uncommon emoticons? The more obscure ones are interesting to learn and see but are not exactly common. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Questionor (talkcontribs) 20:31, 2 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

JESUS CHRIST RUN IT'S A FUCKING LION...

... vs. Cute cat. The :3 expression seems to keep changing from Cute Cat to all kinds of variations like JESUS CHRIST RUN IT'S A LION to some that include profanity, all saying that this is some sort of Internet meme. Does anyone have any input on this? ←Signed:→Mr. E. Sánchez Get to know me! / Talk to me!←at≈:→ 20:32, 9 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

:P and disdain

on 23:34, 3 December 2008, Stobrawa edited :P to claim its a raspberry without the disdain? how/why is it without the disdain exactly? when did this happen? I disagree the standard usage lacks disdain, I believe the lack of disdain is at best a dialect, at worst simply unconscious disdain.

;-P tongue-in-cheek i.e. sarcasm

Where are all the DOS/Windows/Unix standards that were used on USNET for over 10 years? Is there even anyone on Wiki old enough to have been using a computer in the 80's and 90's? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.131.58.135 (talk) 08:32, 16 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Excuse me?

What is this supposed to mean: "<:} An emoticon to explain everything." QuidProQuo23 22:22, 18 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
