Grant Naylor is a cult leader and an underground artist, who lives in Sydney Australia. Working heavily in the abstract expressionist area, he has been hailed as the new Jackson Pollack and is known for his eccentric public behavior. Recently He/They went on vacation to a flat in Soho, in the company of a midget who reportedly plays the theme from The A-Team on a flute all day. No one has been able to confirm whether it's Soho London or New York

Origin

Grant Naylor was created by two art students Hugh "Slats" Radojev and Hugo "Nixon" Gray, as a part pseudonym, part persona for a series of collaborative paintings they did. Originally started as a joke, public response was so positive that they continued work as Grant Naylor. Hugo later refined the concept of Grant Naylor, stating that he and Radojev "Are separate parts of the same entity, like Godzilla and Mecha Godzilla". Respectively and for communication purposes Hugo is Grant and Radojev is Naylor. In an interview someone once asked what does Grant Naylor look like; they responded with "He's one of the eight armed Indian Dieties, only wearing neon tinted Ray Ban aviators and Converse Chuck Taylor All-stars (both Gray and Radojev have a penchent for them).

Cult

For a while Radojev and Gray attempted to transform Grant Naylor into a cult. Touting there infamous catch phrase taken from the title of an early painting "Join Grant Naylor or Die" they proceeded to go around yelling it at strangers. Hugo Gray, the instigator of this idea confessed that he was influenced by Danny Wallaces book Join Me.

Art Work

Grant Naylors artwork is highly abstract expressionistic. In addition to paintings they also produce performance art, by videotaping the painting process, they're violent and energetic technqiue has attracted many fans who simply like to watch them paint. They're first painting, which is contained on two seperate canvasses, is entitled "Join Grant Naylor or Die" the painting is largely paint flung onto a black canvass however, both canvasses also have a big X in the middle and have a corner painted into a curve. They're second and possibly most famous painting was done on a sidewalk sized canvass, and is called "Grant Naylor Owns Your Soul". It was painted to the tune of "Light My Fire" by the Doors. The creation of this was so messy, that they're clothes were also covered in abstract expressionist strokes of paint, they now form a seperate exhibit called "The Victims of Grant Naylor". Various works by them include (but are not limited to) "My Grant Naylor Mind Raped Your Honour Student", "Grant Naylor World Tour 2987 AD", "Grant Naylor Is Your Lord And Master", "Less War and More Grant Naylor", Fear Loathing and Grant Naylor in Las Vegas", and "Grant Naylor Is Better Than You". Perhaps one of their most controvertial works is "Grant Naylor Kicked Jesus's Ass", which caused a stir in the religous community. The artwork caused such controversy not only because of the name, but also the subject matter, which featured an approriated picture of Jesus, that they had screen printed onto a canvas, they the procedded to write the words "FUCK JESUS" in big red letter across the middle before flinging paint it in their usual style. According to Radojev and Gray there are also various stains on the painting including, urine, spit and a cigarette burn, they're logic was future generations could use the DNA from this to clone Grant Naylor, whom they would then worship, when asked how cigarette burns would help the cloning process Gray remarked "Oh they're not there for cloning, they're there because I just plain don't like Jesus.
