Dzongkha is a Sino-Tibetan language from Bhutan. It has approximatly 160,000 speakers. It is a national language of Bhutan but is believed to have a literacy rate of 1-5%. It is written in the Ucan script. It is also spoken in Nepal. The word literally means "language spoken in the dzong", a dzong being a fortified monastery and administrative centre.
