Cottered is a village and civil parish 3 miles west of Buntingford, 6 miles east of Baldock in Hertfordshire, England. It has an approximate population of 430.[1]

Among those who have held the lived in Cottered mare the Rev Anthony Trollope, who was grandfather of the authors Anthony Trollope and Thomas Adolphus Trollope. He was an incumbent of Cottered for forty-four years and died in 1806.[2]

It has a football club, Cottered FC.[3]
