Umm, References?
Is it just me or does it seem as though this list was compiled by random, probably stoned, over-analytical guitarists? A silly topic, if you ask me.
Utility of the list
You're right - this is pointless, and not objective at all -- KeithAllen (talk) 01:31, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
Why does this list need to exist? --Nucleusboy (talk) 21:50, 26 November 2007 (UTC)
- Agreed. But for fun, before looking at the list, I thought of the three songs I would characterize as "riff-driven," and they were all on the list. So, it is a good list. About the only suggestion I would make to those who compiled this list would be to try getting some sources together and maybe adding a section to the Riff article, something like "riff-driven guitar rock." - This list resulted in Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Riff driven. I think a category would be more suitable. Then we could link to the category in the see also section. Zain Ebrahim (talk) 10:27, 10 January 2009 (UTC)
- I don't think a category should be used either, and I would nominate it for deletion the moment I saw it. Lists and categories are not exempt from WP:V. The big problem with lists, and categories to a marginally lesser extent, is their tendency to lean toward original research. This is the problem that has plagued music genre fights pretty much since Wikia began. The non-sugarcoated truth of the matter is as follows: "Nobody cares about your opinion." You can scour through every song that ever existed and pick out all the ones you think are "riff driven" and they still don't belong on the list or in the category unless you have sourced references that state a rationale for the song being "riff driven." WP:N and WP:V are two of the core Wikipedia policies, not helpful little suggestions for you to follow unless maybe you don't feel like it. Trusilver 23:55, 11 January 2009 (UTC)
Only 2 well-known riffs in the world?=
If you ask me, Back in Black is FAR more famous that Satisfaction or that other one. Gtpck32 (talk) 18:28, 31 January 2009 (UTC)
