Confessions of a Shopaholic is an upcoming 2009 film adaptation of the novels The Secret Dreamworld of a Shopaholic (Confessions of a Shopaholic in US) and Shopaholic Abroad (Shopaholic takes Manhattan in US)[1] by British chick lit author Sophie Kinsella, using the novel's American title Confessions of a Shopaholic. It is directed by P. J. Hogan and stars Isla Fisher as the central character, Rebecca Bloomwood. It is set to be released on February 13, 2009.[2]

Plot

A college grad named Rebecca Bloomwood (Isla Fisher) moves to Manhattan to nurture her shopping addiction and get involved in the New York magazine world. Though she is up to her neck in debt, Rebecca becomes a financial advice columnist and even manages to fall for a wealthy entrepreneur.[3]

Production

  • Filming took place in New York, Connecticut, and Florida from February to May 2008.[3][5]
  • Re-shoots took place in New York City on December 4 and 8, 2008, to change the ending of the movie due to sensitive reasons, and to reflect the current financial situation.[6][7][8]

Soundtrack

According to Amazon the soundtrack of Confessions of a Shopaholic will be released on February 10, 2009 under Hollywood Records.[9] However, an alternate tracklisting was posted on Tommy2.net on January 25th, 2009. [10]. In the alternate tracklisting, Adrienne Bailon also sings "Big Spender" and the Pussycat Dolls sing "Bad Girl". In addition, Rick Ocasek is said to sing "Emotion In Motion" instead, and "Music Of The Sun" by Rihanna has been replaced by "Calling You" by Kat DeLuna. Lastly, "Blue Jeans" by Jesse James has been added.
