Alimpiu Barboloviciu

Alimpiu Barbuloviciu (Chilioara, August 6 1843 - Bocşa, December 10 1914) was an Greek Catholic priest and an active presence in public life of Transylvania, in the second half of 19th century.

Biography

His parents came at Chilioara, Sălaj from Craciunel, not far from Blaj. He attended school in Şimleu Silvaniei, Cluj, Satu Mare and Budapest. Was priest at Gherla and in 1873 is appointed vicar of Şimleu Silvaniei. The two general assamblies of Astra took place in Simleu, in 1878 and 1908, under his leadership.

Legacy

The mortal remains of Alimpiu Barbuloviciu are placed in the church from Bocşa, Sălaj and is a place of pilgrimage.
