SA Heat Wave

Try this link - http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDS60900.shtml - says 40.6 at 5:08 pm. I think the page you're looking at is just the half hourly updates - not what the temperature might have been at any given minute :-)Shim jb (talk) 08:43, 1 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Launceston Climate

I've re-wrote the Launceston Climate section. I don't know very much a weather and I'm not an experienced editor and have fairly poor writing skills. I've based the section on mainly the Sydney climate. Does it look OK to you? Aaroncrick (Tassie Talk) 00:11, 2 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Have you checked? I think it looks fine and I know you've been busy. Aaroncrick(Tassie talk) 05:11, 4 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
No I haven't but I'll try and look at it tonight. Bidgee (talk) 05:14, 4 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yep, that's cool. Aaroncrick(Tassie talk) 01:38, 5 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Image licensing

I've requested 'James D Photography (www.jamesdemetrie.com) Copyright 2009' release these images,

Tasman Bridge

Cadbury Chocolate Factory

Bellerive Oval

Launceston Airport

His reply was

Hi Aaron, it was far from cool in Tassie, it was record breaking heatwave while we were there. I have release all 4 photos, for you for the sole purpose of being put in to wikipedia. Can you please explain a little more as to what my photos will be used for? Could you please credit James D Photography (www.jamesdemetrie.com) Copyright 2009 wherever the photos are used.

So could you please explain how I license these images properly. Thanks. Aaroncrick (Tassie Talk) 06:02, 2 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Don't blame you! Would of been very exhausting out there is the sun! Do you live in country New South Wales? Aaroncrick (Tassie Talk) 09:01, 3 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Argh.. that's very hot! Very dry air as well. For your sake I hope it cools down a bit! Aaroncrick (Tassie Talk) 09:37, 3 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Being Tasmanian I'd understand if you wanted the weather in winter to warm up a bit! Temperature averages in winter look very similar to here. But in Summer it seems to be a lot lot hotter up there. Aaroncrick (Tassie Talk) 09:44, 3 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

My apologies again

I hope you can accept another apology from me for my recent actions. Although I might be frustrated in real life, there was no reason for me to act the way I did here, and I'm sorry that you took the brunt of it. Hopefully, I will be able to control that so it will never happen again and I look foreword to working with you on the Australian Cyclone season articles and possibly more :) Cheers, Cyclonebiskit 04:16, 4 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I accept the apology. Meteorology is my passion (nerdy side of me you can say!) on top of photography. I hope next time we both have a disagreement that it doesn't turn into a wall of flames (My way of saying flaming each other ;) ). Bidgee (talk) 04:44, 4 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

your edits to NAB article

you reverted an admittedly unreferenced profit figure to an equally unreferenced profit figure from 2 years ago. why ? instead why not add a reference to the correct latest figure ?

you also dispute that it's of itnerest that NAB is the world's 17th largest bank. believe me, it is relevant to customers, especially in these times. and of course, NAB has several million customers, so I'd say it is relevant to the article. it is also of interest to australia as it reflects the growing importance of the finance industry on a world scale. this is exactly the point of the SMH article that is referenced here. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.170.178.60 (talk) 20:15, 4 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • For your information, the edits referred to by the above anon have been reverted because they are coming from the sockpuppeteer Wizzzzman. I have reblocked the account and will continue to do so until the sockpuppeting is addressed.--VS talk 21:05, 4 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm responsible for that section Avianca in the Spanish Wikipedia is featured article, and looking at the issues that I have seen it insist that Avianca was founded in 1940, when it really was founded on December 5, 1919 with SCADTA name where it later became a name change to AVIANCA and is made in Colombia as AVIANCA and founded in 1919, I quote from www.avianca.com to check the veracity of what I say:

Thanks to the ingeniousness and adventurous spirit of a group of Germans and Colombians, Sociedad Colombo Alemana de Transporte Aéreo – SCADTA was founded in Barranquilla, Colombia on December 5, 1919. It was the first commercial airline founded in Latin America and the second one in the world.

In December 2004, Avianca celebrated its 85th anniversary and its 85th year of uninterrupted operations. This means that this Colombian airline has contributed to Colombia’s development and has been a national emblem throughout the skies of the world for more than eight decades.

I appreciate the difficulty of solution is putting the real date of foundation of AVIANCA. Good evening from Bogota, Colombia. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Nicop (talkcontribs) 23:10, 4 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Cyclone Billy (2008)

I've had a sandbox for Cyclone Billy for a while but I haven't been expanding it since it made its first landfall as a Category 2 cyclone. Since I'm trying to (slowly at least) clean out my sandboxes, I was wondering if you had any impact sources for the storm. If so, you can either add them in or leave the source on my talk page. The sandbox is located at User:Cyclonebiskit/Cyclone Billy (2008). Thanks, Cyclonebiskit 01:23, 5 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm a bit busy ATM but I'll try sometime over the next few days for some sources. Bidgee (talk) 01:30, 5 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

2009 Victorian bushfires

Information from DSE, DHS & CFA via ABC News Radio, a little after midnight. Was wondering why it hadn't been updated yet. Nick carson (talk) 13:50, 8 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

We're in the same boat with the sleep and the smoke and everything. I can assure you that any info I add won't be completely unsourced. Policy is in need of amendment regarding the inclusion of non-commercial radio sources amongst other things, and this also annoys me. I can understand your frustration with people adding completely unsourced information and I suppose we can hold off on some inclusions until we get a WP out of date policy certified source. Sheesh :] Nick carson (talk) 14:20, 8 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I'm also using some maps of the burnt areas from the CFA, recent satellite images. The better version won't be ready till tomorrow unless I go without sleep for longer which I don't think is possible. At least we've got a basic map until the new version is done. Nick carson (talk) 14:50, 8 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yep, I'm off to bed too. Hoping not to wake up to a death toll of 150. Sent shivers down my spine when the first 14 were announced being around Kinglake and St. Andrews where I have many friends. Can't believe the smoke has reached Wagga Wagga, I put the image in a gallery, hopefully we can get some more images. You've probably seen some of the ones I've taken, we're getting some amazing skies with cloud and smoke mingling. Wish I could get further into the hills to take some pics for WP but the less people around there the better, I don't want to get in the way. Nick carson (talk) 15:16, 8 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Amazing picture of the smoke that has already filled Wagga Wagga. Hopefully there are no fires close to you. Aaroncrick(Tassie talk) 04:43, 9 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A k, get you. Didn't know that records have to be from same recording station. Aaroncrick(Tassie talk) 04:58, 9 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Changed reference to Tasmania in January 2009 Aaroncrick(Tassie talk) 05:07, 9 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Not great news really. Hope the smoke doesn't settle down here as it will be trapped for a month. The dumb Ravo's (Bogans of Launnie) have decided that it might be a great idea to light a couple of fires here. Idiots! Weather is supposed to cool down so hopefully the fires over their will start to be controlled. Aaroncrick(Tassie talk) 07:45, 9 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sam Moran

Thank you for your constructive criticism in re: my edits to the page of Sam Moran. However, I cannot provide any particular source off-hand short of asking his mother to send me a copy of his birth certificate showing the place of birth (which I would not do). However, I do not think it appropriate that my change be labelled "incorrect." Perhaps "undocumented"? RavShimon (talk) 03:43, 10 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You need a reliable and verifiable source. ATM the only source I've found is The Daily Advertiser which suits both of the source policies. If you can find anything. Maybe if you say you do know him or his family is to request that he add's his place of birth on his BIO on the Wiggles website (I'm sure I've seen his BIO there not sure). Bidgee (talk) 03:48, 10 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
FYI, the Wiggles webpage states that Sam grew up in Wagga Wagga, and moved to Sydney to study music. --Figureskatingfan (talk) 04:53, 10 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

09 vic bushfire info

Thanks :] I've been tracing the path of the Kilmore origin fire more than the weather conditions. It must have swept from Mt. Disapointment to Marysville very quickly. There are alot of scattered spot fire marks between Yarra Glen and Healesville in that more agricultural oriented vegetation, as opposed to the hilly forested areas around Kinglake to Marysville. From Mt. Disapointment they travelled in a SSE direction before reaching Arthur's Creek and St. Andrews from where the wind change seems to have pushed the fires further east through Steels Creek and Narbethong towards Marysville. Nick carson (talk) 10:46, 10 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Nope, that's fine. I'm sure we'll find out in the final report, at which time we should finally be able to do the subject matter some justice in the WP article. Nick carson (talk) 11:09, 10 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Wow, Melbourne has had very little smoke, but we can see everything from where we are, looking out over the Yarra Valley, particularly today there's been smoke through all of the hills and there's alot of them. Took a bit of a drive to Yarra Glen/Steels Creek today, pretty surreal experience. Nick carson (talk) 11:18, 10 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thankyou

Thanks for the award, it's only the 2nd I've ever received, so I'm unsure about the protocol. Thankyou for your contributions to the same article (2009 Victorian bushfires) which have been more disciplined than my own. Nick carson (talk) 11:45, 12 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
