The third season of the Australian drama Sea Patrol will premiere as Sea Patrol - Red Gold on the Nine Network in 2009. Principal location filming will, as in past seasons, be completed in and around the area of Mission Beach, Queensland. It has an announced budget of AU$17 million.[1] The continued presence of the production in north Queensland has been hailed as "a major boon for our local film and television industry" by Rod Welford, the Queensland Minister for Education, Training and the Arts.[2] Sea Patrol season 3 finished filming in mid-February and is expected for an airing date of sometime in April 2009. The series is to kick off with a major cast member being killed off.
