Ioan Maniu (1833-1895) was a Transylvanian Romanian jurist, politician and journalist.

Biography

He attended juridical studies at Pest and Vienna. He was deeply influenced by his uncle Simion Bărnuţiu.

He maried in 1865 to Clara Coroian, the doughter of Greek Catholic cleargyman Demetriu Coroian. They had five children: Cassiu, Iuliu, Sabina, Cornelia, and Elena. The second child, Iuliu Maniu, was a famous politician.
