Leblouh is the practice of force-feeding for young women in Mauritania, where obesity is considered a sign of beauty. Especially prevalent in rural areas and having its roots in Berber tradition, leblouh is practiced to increase chances of marriage in a society where high body volume is a sign of wealth. The practice made a significant comeback after a 2008 military junta took over[1]
