Japan is located at the Pacific Ocean which is East Asia. It is an Island country and it has 3000 smaller islands. The four main Islands are Honshu, Hokkaido, Kyushu and Shikoku, together it is about 97% of Japan's land area.

Japan is mountainous it has lots of volcanoes some are still active and some are not. For example mount Fuji is the tallest peak of japan
