Vadhu and Tulapur claim their places in history for their association with the last moments of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, Son of Chhatrapati Shivaji. Sambhaji was brutally murdered at Tulapur by Aurangzeb. His mortal remains were then cremated in defiance of the Moghal Emperor's orders by the brave villagers of Vadhu, a village not far from Tulapur.

Tulapur is about 40 Kilometres north east of Pune. It is situated on the banks of 3 rivers- Bhima, Bhama and Indrayani and was originally known as 'Nagargaon'. A small temple here is very beautiful and must see. And next to the temple, the samadhi of Sambhaji Maharaj is built. Really a place where we can remember the famous Maratha.
