Vettius Agorius Praetextatus (died 384) was a wealthy pagan aristocrat in 4th century Rome and a high priest in the cults of numerous gods. In reference to Pope Damasus I's allegedly luxurious lifestyle, he reportedly joked to him "Make me bishop of Rome and I will become a Christian".
